Steven Hall
Dr. Steven Hall, a renowned American concert pianist, was born in Dallas, Texas. He has performed to critical acclaim as an orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout the major music centers of the United States, Europe, and Asia. The West German newspaper reviewer stated, “he need not fear comparison to the greatest in his field.” After spending his first year of college at the Juilliard School with Adele Marcus, he received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Texas at Austin (both with high honors), and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance degree from University of Southern California. All his degrees were under the tutelage of the world-renowned pianist-teacher John Perry. As Mr. Perry’s teaching assistant during his DMA degree, Hall was honored as the Outstanding Doctoral Candidate in Keyboard Studies, and he also received the Award for Outstanding Departmental Teaching Assistant.
Dr. Hall has been a top prize-winner in several national and international piano competitions, including the MTNA Young Artist Competition, American Chopin Competition and competed in
the Leeds International and Van Cliburn International Piano Competitions. Dr. Hall was also chosen by the Ibach Piano Company of Germany as their first American artist representative
since the company’s inception in 1794. His two CD releases Steven Hall and Classic Piano feature this beautiful instrument and are available on iTunes and YouTube.
Dr. Hall is in frequent demand as adjudicator and clinician at the state, local and national levels, and has presented lectures at the MTNA, TMTA and NCKP conferences. For ten years, he was also Editor of CD and DVD Reviews for Piano Magazine (formerly Clavier Companion). In 2000, he and his wife, Dr. Annie Lin, co-founded the Brandeis Piano Conservatory in Richardson, Texas. In addition to his performing and teaching career, Dr. Hall is also the
President of BPC Recording Company which produces high-quality audio and video recordings principally for young instrumentalists entering online competitions and college audition applications. Their submissions enjoy a historically successful rate of acceptance.
