Carl Matthes

Carl Matthes has performed as soloist with orchestra in Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Seattle Center Coliseum, Royce Hall, UCLA, USC under the auspices of the Young Musicians Foundation and with Sir Josef Krips and the San Francisco Symphony.

He has performed in London, England at Wigmore Hall, Lord Clive House and St. Martins-in-the-Fields and in The Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Germany.

He toured for 15 years on the Community Concerts circuit. He is most proud of having been a candidate for a Rockefeller Foundation grant to record the piano music of Aaron Copland. He began his teaching career in 1955 at the Los Angeles Music & Art School in East Los Angeles.

For 29 years Executive Director of Southwestern Youth Music Festival. Advisor to and Former Chair of the Southern California Junior Bach Festival. Advisor to and Former President of Glendale MTAC.
